Less than one month after he received the Kentucky Colonel honour from the United States, Cayman Island taxi driver Durl Ebanks has been tapped to become a priest.
In a statement released to the Caymanian Compass, Mr. Ebanks said that the following must be written exactly as presented:
“Hear ye hear ye
A PUBLIC NOTICE
As it is in another place
The order of Melchizedek
will begin on May 21, 2011
with a new covenant
ordered by the order of Prince Durl
sign by the order of The Honourable High Priest
Prince Durl Fletcher Ebanks III of
The Cayman Islands.”
The statement was signed and proper documentation was authenticated at the time of delivery.
The notice came with a picture of the 1901 painting by Edmund Blair Leighton titled The Accolade.
This is the first time the public will be made aware of this specific order and this religious organisation, according to Mr. Ebanks.
“I’m not authorized to give any more details,” he said, adding that the statement above cannot be spoken out loud, only written.
He said that more information will be made public next May, when the priesthood becomes official.
